Ushering in the year of the rooster

So it's that time of the year again. The 15 days of continuous feasting.. yup it's Chinese New Year time!! Woo hoo.. ok, technically it's lunar new year, but eh, who's keeping score?

Anyhow, as per every other CNY, we went visiting "bai nian" with the family... and then proceeded to eat through the day. Only difference is that this was the first year we had to do our own spring cleaning (since we had our own place) and give out hong baos (since we're now officially chinese-y married).

The spring cleaning is enough to make me want to move home again.. it's just been a crazy week with trying to get this damn air con fixed. We've also been trying to decorate the place in our attempt to get the place "fancy" and lived-in before the relatives come visit on saturday. For lack of a better, unique wall-hanging, the hubby and I fashioned some authentic batik fixtures on the wall... all custom made by the kale-and-denise decoration house... we're in the running for Martha Stewart's version of "The Apprentice". Will take some pics of our handiwork and put it up here soon.

Anyhow, after finally getting new sheets on the bed, and changing cushion covers, and making sure we had all the necessary cny ornaments around the house, we crawled into bed late last nite after the reunion dinner and prepped ourselves for a day of eating. The day did not disappoint.. and here are some pictures to prove it.
