this was a scene on a british comedy tv show last nite.

scene: talkshow set

female host: today we're talking about men and presents. we just want our men to put some thought into our presents.
female audience member: we just want them to understand.
male audience member: what makes you think that if we don't understand you 364 days in a year, we'll understand what you want on your birthday? you don't want a present, you want a bloody miracle!!

another female (gesturing to her husband): all we want is to know that you think of us. this one bought me a hoover for me birthday!
her husband: yeah, and i was thinking of you hoovering!!!
