Race report (Marina south)

As promised, here's pictures and a brief race report of Kale's criterium today. It was a 50 min race followed by 3 laps. I'll once again leave the technical reporting to the man himself, but will give you my layman's perspective on it.

It was civilised by usual race standards.. had regular toilets, was at a decent hour, and they actually had a tent (see below for more on the tent) and shelter. The weather, however, was NOT cooperating and it proceeded to drizzle, heat up, drizzle again, and then finally pour. This crazy weather meant that everyone was kinda damp and standing around in very intolerable muggy air. The "grass fleas" were out in full force due to the rain. They're small miniscule little bugs that fly around in swarms. Not exactly the ideal race companions.

Anyhow, the race went ok. Kale's was the last race of the morning. There was a break which Kale was in.. that eventually (after what seemed like eons) got pulled back into the pack.. and then it blew up in a major sprint at the end. (See pics)

Last minute pow-wow before the race

Kale did decent. The rain resulted in wet roads, which resulted in a few crashes on the corners in the earlier races. Poor chaps. Thankfully Kale's race was crash-free. The laps were each 1.3km long so we had plenty of chances to see them come around (which explains the better-than-avg photos).

Anyhow, we got roped into taking the tent back to the shop after the race.. The guys helped to take down the tent and that turned out to be more entertaining than the race.

How many men does it take to pull down a tent?

Finally!

Jessy, Me and Elaine (proof I was there)

Finally had lunch at 3pm near the bike shop, came home, crashed on the floor before heading over to the 'rents for dinner. Pooped.
Have diarrhoea too.. so generally feeling more under-the-weather than I usually do after a race. Just glad the day went without incident.. and that the race went well.

Till next week's duathlon at marina south (again). Man, the life of a recreational athlete's wife...
